YOU ARE AT: HOME » COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE » GETTING STARTED

First steps

Planting a bulb1. First find out more about CSA. We would recommend you read the following publications:

  • A Share in the Harvest - an action manual for community supported agriculture - this provides a comprehensive guide to all aspects of setting up a CSA project
2. Look at the case studies and different models of CSA

3. Then start talking to friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and start getting people interested in the idea and find out what they would be interested in

4. Start exploring the availability of land in your area

5. Contact us at the Soil Association - see contacts

Who can be involved in CSA?

Everyone!

  • If you are a consumer, you can join an existing CSA or one that is currently forming – see get involved locally
  • If there isn't one in your area, you could look into the opportunity of setting one up – see the action manual, A Share in the Harvest
  • If you are a farmer/grower with land and are interested in establishing a stable customer base and stronger links with your local community
  • If you are a farmer/grower with no land and looking for an interesting opportunity of working with a community and producing their food
