What is a podcast?
A podcast is audio (usually mp3s) that are broadcast over the Internet. Each podcast is part of a series which you can subscribe to. By subscribing, you will automatically receive each new podcast as soon as it is published. You can then listen to it on your PC, or download it to your iPod, mobile phone, PDA, mp3 player, etc. and listen to it on the move.

How can I subscribe and download the podcasts?

Just follow these steps:

Step 1

It's important to consider your capacity to download large files and how your Internet connection will cope. If you're using broadband, this shouldn't be an issue. However, if you're using a dial up connection, you should be aware that the audio files may take a while to download. On average, each of our podcasts would take two minutes to download on a 56kb modem.

Step 2

The next thing is to install some software that will enable you to subscribe to the podcast. A popular option is Juice, but a list of alternatives is available at www.podcastingnews.com.

Step 3

When you have your software installed, the next step is to add the feed. The feed for the Soil Association podcast is:
http://www.soilassociation.org/web/sa/saweb.nsf/podcast.xml

Step 4

You are now ready to receive the podcasts - your software will automatically download each podcast as it is published. Happy listening!
